Withdrawals Due To Weather: Please note that your local weather could affect your ability to perform at your home field at the scheduled time. If you do not cancel your registration by the last minute (GO/NO-GO) entry deadline of 11:59 e.s.t. the night BEFORE the competition, you will be confirmed as a competitor for this event.
GROUND RULES:
MULTIPLE TIME ZONE EVENT: This is a timed, synchronized kicking competition across many time zones. Please be familiar with your local time zone and how it relates to the base EASTERN STANDARD (yellow on the map) we will use to facilitate the event. All kickers will begin together and end together based on the office competition clock. You will be performing the SAME kicking routine with other kickers on other fields at the EXACT SAME TIME, no matter where you are in the country. Your results entries are based on deadlines set to the clock on this event page, so synchronize your watch and/or phone if necessary. This clock is set to our EASTERN STANDARD time zone, so please adjust accordingly based on your location. If a posted event begins at 3pm EST in Atlanta for instance, kickers in California will begin at noon accordingly.
OPT-IN TO RECEIVE TEXT ALERTS FOR THIS EVENT. Once registration closes at midnight, confirmed participants will receive an email requesting that competitors OPT-IN (accept texts for the vent) for the TEXT ALERT SERVICE we use to begin the competition. It is CRITICAL that you are on this group list to participate as your timed kicking routine will be sent via TEXT to the mobile device registered for the event. All kickers will receive a text alert 5 minutes before the official start time for each event. That text will contain the exact kicking routine you must submit in order to qualify for ranking results. When you receive your competition routine text, you will fill out the distance/hash columns and write your name on your paper chart!
TEXT YOUR COMPLETED CHART IMMEDIATELY ONCE FINISHED: You will chart each kick as you go on good old fashioned paper. We have the official competition chart download link here. Download the chart, print it out, fill it out, then text a CLEARLY VISIBLE photo of the chart once your routine is complete. Follow the format shown (click on image) to record your kicks. Circle each attempt in order, draw an X through attempts that are no good (left, right or short).
UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO: Your video must be uploaded to YouTube.com AND resulting link emailed to us by the deadline of 11:59pm EST the day of the competition. We will use the link you send so that we can visually confirm your chart and officially enter your results for scoring and ranking. This will require a YouTube account if you don’t already have one, but you may upload your video as ‘unlisted’ if you don’t want anyone to see it or find it on your YouTube.com account. We will use your link to embed your video on your profile page. Simply send the link of your video to compete@fieldgoalkicker.com by 11:59est.
- PRE-COMPETITION CHECKLIST: We assume you will be using a mobile smart phone to record your submission video. If not, please follow these guidelines regardless of what you use to record your event.
- PRINT YOUR COMPETITION CHART: This is the one page piece of paper you will use to chart your kicks. Once you complete your kicking routine, you will text a picture of this completed chart within 20 minutes of your competition start time. If we do not receive this text with your clearly visible and completed chart, we can not include your results for the event! Competition chart download link >>
- CHARGE YOUR PHONE BATTERY TO FULL: Make sure your recording device (phone or other camera) has a full battery. You will need your recording device to capture your entire kicking routine from beginning to end, a maximum of 20 minutes for the competition so plan accordingly. We recommend a FULLY CHARGED mobile phone or other recording device when the event begins.
- HAVE PLENTY OF SPACE ON YOUR PHONE: Make sure your recording device has plenty of space to record your kicks. If we can not review your video, we can not include your results for ranking points. How much space do you need? The average iPhone uses about 100mb of space PER MINUTE of video recorded. The competition is a maximum of 20 minutes, which would require about 2 GB of space on the device before beginning your kicking routine.
- SET YOUR PHONE TO ‘DO NOT DISTURB’: On an iPhone for instance, this is called ‘Airplane Mode’ and it’s important that your phone (if using a phone to record) is not interrupted once the video recording is underway. We can not accept your video unless it is submitted as one file! If your recording stops for any reason during the competition due to an unforeseen text, alert or phone call, the video results will be not be eligible for ranking.
- HAVE TWO FOOTBALLS PREPARED: Have air in your TWO footballs ahead of time. Remember, this is a TIMED event for everyone so there are no excuses for not being prepared. In fairness to all competitors, you are in control of submitting your chart and video results by the deadline. Don’t waste time pumping up flat balls once the competition clock has begun. You may only use TWO footballs during the event. If we see more than two footballs in your video submission, your submitted chart will not be included in final ranking results.
Please don’t hesitate to email questions to compete@fieldgoalkicker.com prior to the competition. We will do our best to answer in a timely fashion, but please understand that if you wait until competition day to submit general questions it may be difficult for us to respond immediately if at all!
Good luck with your competition and look out for our next email to join the TEXT ALERT GROUP for this event.
