Kicking Lessons
How times have changed when it comes to kicking lessons. When I was about 12 years old I started my journey into kicking footballs, a recent change over from kicking soccer balls. The issue was, in my city in Georgia around the mid eighties, there just were no options for kids who wanted to get started kicking footballs.
Today, kicking lessons are almost as common place as tennis lessons. Well, that’s a bit of an overstatement if you play tennis. BUT, kicking lessons are much more common place now than when I was coming along.
We did what most people probably do today. We (my father and I) began asking around, friends, family, whomever would listen to find out if they happened to know anyone who provided kicking lessons.
We did find one guy in Marietta at that time who had punted in college, but he wasn’t a ‘kicker’ in terms of real world experience. So, we met with him nonetheless at a public park, and began the process of learning how to punt.
The issue was, I wasn’t a punter! We were looking for KICKING LESSONS, but we thought that this very nice guy was the next best thing. As great as the quick lesson was at the time, it was a bit technical for a 12 year old and let’s face it, how much can you learn in one hour?
The next step we took in the search for kicking lessons by instructors who had been there and done that was to wait until the summer fliers started coming out.
Kicking Lessons That Are Different
We created this site for the younger kickers who in many cases are just getting started. Our coaches, who played at both the college AND professional (NFL) levels, filmed over 6 months of video JUST FOR YOU.
On top of that, we created a community for young kickers including forums to interact with US as well as your peers. Our site follows a membership model, and as long as you are an FGK Member, you are a part of a club that could serve as a resource for years to come.
IF you are interested in joining our membership site and would like to meet us for traditional on-field kicking lessons, we offer field goal kicking clinics too! No, we don’t travel the country with a circus of coaches, but we do make sure that we are available for you if you are within driving distance.
Our membership model doesn’t replace on-field lessons. It supplements them. Even if you are working with another kicking coach you can join FGK Online for online support from experts within a social setting.
Over time we’ll provide not only online, video based kicking lessons in a step by step, organized method that you can study at your OWN pace. But, you can review each lesson or topic again and again.
